WhatsApp shows Unicode styled text everywhere: your profile name (what appears in everyone's chat list), your About (the status line, up to 139 characters), group names and descriptions, and inside messages. There's no name-change card or cooldown like games have — you edit your name in Settings and it updates instantly for every contact.
WhatsApp is unusual because it also has built-in formatting for text you type in chats: wrap a word in *asterisks* for bold, _underscores_ for italic, ~tildes~ for strikethrough, and three backticks for monospace. Newer versions add bulleted and numbered lists, block quotes and inline code. That native formatting only styles message text though — your name and About ignore it, so those fields still need the Unicode styles here.
Because your name sits in every contact's chat list, a styled name stands out more on WhatsApp than almost anywhere else. Bold script and small-caps stay readable at small sizes, keep About under 139 characters, and remember styled text shows identically on iPhone and Android with no app needed on their side.
