Your display name (3–20 characters) is where styled Unicode belongs — it appears above your avatar, on the leaderboard and in chat, while your underlying username stays the plain original you signed up with. Because the filter scans names, very unusual symbol combinations can be rejected or reverted, so lean toward clean, legible styles rather than dense decorative ones.
The safest, best-supported picks for a Roblox display name are small caps, bold and script — they read clearly at the small size Roblox shows names in and pass moderation without trouble. Avoid stacking combining marks or long symbol borders: they often get stripped, and they make your name hard to read in fast-moving chat. Set the styled version as your display name, keep it short so all of it fits, and test it in-experience to confirm it shows the way you expect.
The same rules apply to group and clan names: styled Unicode makes a tag recognisable on a leaderboard, but Roblox's filter still scans it, so a clean small-caps or bold tag passes far more reliably than a border of decorative symbols. If a name reverts after you save it, simplify the style rather than retrying the same characters — the filter is the reason, and a plainer style is the fix.
